Silvan Skincare Beauty Balms

Marian's story

“Skin is living tissue and will respond to its environment (weather, pollution, diet and stress). I am definitely a believer in less is more when it comes to skincare. I create blends to harmonise, stabilise and strengthen the skin whilst supporting it to carry out its important functions.

I was taught by my stepmother how to make creams and the techniques and subtleties of blending plant oils. As a trained massage therapist, my first development was the Silvan Skincare massage and body oils which was a response to the fact I couldn’t find anything that worked for me in the way I wanted. My range then grew to include facial oils, creams and balms.

Each ingredient is carefully chosen for a specific purpose – for nourishment, protection, soothing inflamed or damaged skin or for extra nutrients for dry or sore skin. I blend the products in small batches using a range of oils from seed kernels, fruit and nuts together with precious oils from plants such as papaya, evening primrose and camellia.

My ethos is to create products that are truly natural and don’t irritate or harm the body or the environment.”

Our mission as a beauty brand

Our mission from the outset was to create effective, affordable and gentle skincare using the highest quality organic and sustainable plant-based ingredients.

Our Beauty Balms are carefully formulated from blends of organic shea butter, plant oils, infusions and essential oils for the best possible results for your skin. Silvan Skincare have won many awards including the Janey Loves Platinum Award 2018 in the Mother and Baby category for Mama’s Balm.

The range is certified as cruelty free under the Leaping Bunny programme and our balms are also registered with the Vegan Society. Our products are 100% natural; free from mineral oils, petrochemicals, parabens, artificial fragrance, sodium lauryl sulphate, colourings or silicones and with all ingredients clearly listed.

Where possible we choose ingredients which are organic certified by The Soil Association. We believe that it is important to select from suppliers who buy from sustainable growers, particularly when the products are tropical. We always seek out fairly traded products which give producers and communities a better deal.

Our Beauty Balms are Plastic Free, we use glass containers and aluminium lids. We are passionate about packaging! Wherever possible we minimise the need and will always dispense with unnecessary packaging. Reduce, reuse recycle is our mantra.
